« on: June 08, 2011, 01:08:30 AM »
These are fixed and submitted to the App Store in version 5.0.14:

* Folder unread list should only show unread articles belonging to the folder contents
* Sometimes the feedHopper media player control toolbar is below the screen (only when you enable autoplay for podcasts)
* Memory leak when using the next/prev tracks

If you have other issues, just email support or post here

Thanks for your feedback, and apologies up front for the inconveniences

iPad and iPhone Apps / feedHopper 5.0 sneak peek
« on: May 29, 2011, 09:29:11 PM »
5.0 brings significant improvements to the app's podcasting capabilities:

* Download Manager that conveys download status directly in to the article lists (progress meters).
You can now download dozens (hundreds if necessary) of podcasts simultaneously.  There are new toolbar
items under the podcast button for downloading all new podcasts from a feed, or you can set the
auto-download option to add new requests to the download manager on a refresh.
* Podcast track play in the order intended by the website (the post date of the podcast).
* Map pins work in downloads folders.
* Custom Media Player GUI with Next/Prev track and +/- 15 second buttons.
* Media play is restricted to the article area, keeping the toolbar and other controls available to you
(use the widescreen stretch button to get more real estate)
* Cover Art (both during playing and in the article lists)
* New wizard for setting some podcast preferences across all your feeds.
* New icon on articles indicating they have a podcast (A tiny paperclip).

In addition, some features and fixes for the traditional news folks:
* Faster parsing, faster transitioning and article selection all around.
* bug fix for feeds that have more articles than your history limit setting.
* The missing 'articles' button when in portrait mode :)

Screenshots will be posted soon.   A youtube video will be posted to help demonstrate the new podcasting features.

iPad and iPhone Apps / 4.2 Update Sneak Peak
« on: April 17, 2011, 10:42:54 PM »
4.2 is a big one :)

Thanks everyone for your support.  Below is a list of notes from development.  Other than big speed improvements, the new 'river reading' feature is available.  You should all try this out.  Details below.

New Features:
> Unread Articles, and Downloads entries are embedded automatically in each folder.
> 'River of news' reading mode (global settings/display/mark as read when title is shown).  When enabled, in article list if a title of an unread article scrolls into view it is automatically marked as read, and a fade in of a grey background signifies it was unread.  Folder and Feed Unread counters decrement in real time as you go.  Fantastic for speed-reading feeds!
> Much faster search
> Much faster transitions to/from widescreen mode in the reading pane
> Much faster article list popup in portrait or widescreen
> Much faster transition from article list to reading pane
> Much faster transition from reading pane to article list
> You can now see all articles in the article list rather than the artificial limit of 50.
> Updated OpenFeint to latest ver,  2.10
> Selected article stays selected whenever you transition to/from reading pane and article list (or pop up the article list when in widescreen).  Previous versions did not do this.

Bug Fixes:
> Fixed a subtle, rare crash when selecting an unread article to read

iPad and iPhone Apps / 4.1 update sneak peek
« on: March 27, 2011, 02:38:44 PM »
4.1 brings some fixes, and much enhanced google reader/sync integration.

With 4.1 you now have a new menu item under support (the life saver icon) to bring up an internal error log which you can email support.  If things do not work right, support may ask for this log in order to improve the product.

Also in 4.1 are improvements to some date formats for certain feeds, improvements to image attachments in reading mode, and cosmetic fixes to the google reader toolbar for articles.

Google Reader Syncing
4.1 introduces improves google reader synchronizing.  It is now approximately 5x faster when marking an entire feed/folder/or the entire database as having been read.  It also performs 'deep syncing' with old articles to ensure if you have marked them read in google reader that they get marked as such in feedHopper.

Deep syncing goes beyond the short-term sync that occurs when you refresh a feed.  Previous versions of feedHopper only synced the immediate articles Google provides for a feed (up to 30 or so entries).  If articles fell off that list feedHopper did not sync them.  Now, deep sync checks all unread articles to ensure their Google Sync integrity is accurate.

Google Reader Importing
4.1 also introduces improved google reader importing.  Now there is an 'import all' button to just add all feeds at once.

Note that when you launch the google import dialog feedHopper will only show you feeds not already subscribed in feedHopper, which makes things simpler for you.  Now however, it will only import a feed for the category you selected it under.  Prior to 4.1 all categories for the selected feed were pulled, perhaps creating undesirable/unwanted folders. You now have control over those associations.
