Changing Settings
« on: April 13, 2011, 06:02:45 PM »
Hello, great job with feedHopper!  I just installed the newest version, however it seems that settings changes are not saving.  I've tried to change to reading mode to book or invert but nothing changes.  It says the entries were changed but just reverts to the standard white background with no changes.  Please advise.

oh no, thats no good :(

Let's pick a feed that should be working.  If you edit that feed's settings (touch the footlocker, then the feed) and go to the RSS Content section what do you see for Download Full Article and Reading Mode?

They should both be on.  If not, turn them on.

If either was off, thats the problem :)  If both were on, the next thing to do is to make sure we download new articles with the Download Full Article feature on (because reading mode requires they were downloaded with that on).

At this point, let me know what the settings were at.  This next bit is just a trick to force feedHopper to redownload the articles for a feed to make sure the articles were downloaded while 'Download Full Article' is on.  You don't ever have to do this in real life, but we don't want to wait until the feed author publishes new articles to test out the changes :)

In the same feed settings dialog:
Go to the Settings section and touch 'a website', then touch the blue save button that shows up, then touch 'an rss or atom feed', then again touch the blue save button that shows up.

That just reset any article associations with the feed.  Close the settings dialog, touch the 'done' button to conclude feed list editing, and now refresh that feed (select the feed, and touch the refresh icon in the feed's toolbar).

I'm strictly using Google Reader for all of my feeds so I cannot edit individual feed settings.  Reading mode is set to on in the app settings though.  Also, when I choose all articles, it seems to limit the amount shown as I have many more unread but there's no option to load more.

Sorry I was not clear, I mean edit the feed settings in feedhopper.  This won't change the google sync settings.  Edit the feed settings as described above and just let me know what the two setting options as discussed are.

Yeah, all articles in the version you have is truncated for performance, but a version in the works opens it up quite a bit.

That did the trick.  However, I had to manually go into each feed and update it as you described.  I look forward to an update that can load more articles in the "All Articles" section.  Thank you for the help.
