I can't get Gallery and Caption plugin to work.
« on: June 28, 2011, 07:26:15 PM »
Hello,

First, I must admit I'm still learning WordPress, so please bear with me if I've made a noob mistake.

That being said, I'm having difficulty getting Gallery and Caption to work.  I had installed the plug-in over a year ago, but never used it.  Yesterday I did an "update" on the plug-in then proceeded to read the instructions and try it out on a private page I created.

As mentioned in the instructions, I used the HTML editor and typed in [captiongroup columns="2"], followed by four images that were in the media library, followed by [/captiongroup].  When I view the page it doesn't group them up, nor does it give you the magnifying glass you can click on to blow the image up.

What am I doing wrong?

It only works on images that have captions.  The images you insert between the captiongroup tags must look something like this (note the [caption...]:

[caption id="attachment_505" align="alignleft" width="200" caption="klklklkl"]<a href="http://localhost:8888/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/feedHopperLogo.jpg" rel="attachment wp-att-505"><img src="http://localhost:8888/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/feedHopperLogo-200x200.jpg" alt="" title="feedHopperLogo" width="200" height="200" class="size-thumbnail wp-image-505" /></a>[/caption]

This is done automatically by wordpress when you insert an image that has text in the "Image Caption" field.  If you don't have the caption bits as shown above, delete them and re-insert them but this time when you are looking at the image insert dialog, before you click on "insert into post", fill in some text in the "Image Caption" field.

If thats not it, get right back to me and Ill dive into it some more.

cheers!
