I think work will start when iOS 5 comes out and the feed hopper ios5 release goes out. This will be a good jumping point, not particularly because of ios5 but Xcode 4.2.
Podcasting is probably the first thing to get in. It will take some bit of time because as you noticed we have a custom player (amongst other things) designed for the iPad screen. Not rocket science, but have sort of been getting fH to a certain level of maturity before going back to flitter.
Then will roll in google sync support.
