iPad and iPhone Apps / Med Timers 1.2 sneak peek
« on: April 05, 2013, 08:11:30 PM »
> New Timer Type: As Needed
Use this for optional medication that you take as needed. It will count down until you can take the next pill and show orange (rather than red) when ready. It will alert you only once as well. As Needed timers have no start or end, and work similar to the continuous timers of v1.2

> History button on timer info page. This will show the medication log but filter it for the timer in question.

> New silent alarm option for timer alerts (just pick "Silent" as the alarm sound).

Minor updates and fixes:
> New action menu, currently with one item to take you to the support forum.
> now allows background music
> Enlarged font for timer info fields
> Fixed Scrolling issue for large timer lists for those that purchased the removal ads.

iPad and iPhone Apps / Med Timers 1.1 sneak peek
« on: March 15, 2013, 12:06:16 PM »
1.1 will feature new free-wheel timers (no start/end time bounds) and the ability to suspend an unused timer without deleting it (so you could later one day turn it back on without having to reenter the information).

If you have a request or particular medical need I can help with in the app shoot me an email via the in-app email support option (press the info button on top left of screen).  Or you can post here.

As many of you may know, Google is shutting down their reader platform which many iOS readers are heavily dependent on.

Luckily flitter and feedhopper use their own RSS technology and are not a reader front-end.   The following features may be impacted (based on what Google means by 'shutdown'):
1. Google Reader synchronization
2. Importing, exporting feeds to/from Google Reader.
3. Internet feed search

Thats about it.  Ill amend this list if something else dawns on me.

iPad and iPhone Apps / Flitter 3.0 sneak peek
« on: December 03, 2011, 03:15:34 PM »
Well it was a long time coming but Flitter was overhauled, and in a big way.  Flitter is now in final beta and looking good for a submittal to Apple next week sometime.

* New GUI layout and menu system (feedHopper users will feel at home)
* Themes!  Pick colors and optionally hide the status bar.
* Full Screen article reading.  Flitter always had full screen web browsing, but now you can read an RSS article in the same manner.
* Podcast download manager and custom player with 15 second commercial skip buttons (hold landscape to get the 15 sec buttons).  Podcasts also play in the background and support track play that goes in the correct order (oldest to newest).
* Folders/categories
* Google sync, google import and export.  Link your google account under settings/google setup.
* 'instapaper' style reading for your feeds (offline even).  Our native 'instapaper' algorithm from feedHopper is now integrated into flitter.  Visit the settings for your feed and click on "RSS Content" for more information
* Wizards (batch changes for your feed list)
* Tons of social networking services including Facebook integration.
* Internet feed search.  Want to add a feed?  Search for it. For example, "carolina panthers" will pop up feeds that discuss the panthers.
* Better pervasive search.
* Article tags and filters
* Feed Sorter: Sort your front page or folder feed list based on criteria such as 'what feed has unread articles'
* Speed reading option: mark articles as read when their titles are shown in the feed article lists rather than when you visit the article directly.
* Map pin: revisit the last article from any feed to quickly pick up where you were.
* Retina graphics

To highlight themes, many of these screen snaps have different colors.

iPad and iPhone Apps / feedHopper 5.2.1 (and a bonus for your troubles!)
« on: November 22, 2011, 07:29:55 PM »
Hello folks.

The crash has been identified and fixed with 5.2.1, including protection from this in the future.  5.2.1 has been submitted to Apple.

Assuming you have had the upgrade problem with 5.2, the first time you launch 5.2.1 your feed list will be intact and the database will attempt to recover.  This will take a minute or two because of the odd configuration.

You may experience sluggishness with feedHopper if you have experienced the upgrade problem and the recovery did not go well.  If so, purge your database (under the support 'life saver' toolbar button you will see a purge database option).  You will lose articles but performance will return to normal.

I realize this was frustrating and apologize.  A reading database should NOT go down on you.

To attempt to make amends (other than the fix :) ) our iPhone equivalent (Flitter) is currently undergoing a major design update to bring in all of feedHopper's features and will be given away free for your troubles.

If all else goes well It is a few weeks away if we can beat Apple's review team xmas shutdown period (which would delay release until '12).

Just resister for email notification on this thread (see the 'notify' button above this article) and on the week where Flitter will be made available for free a followup post will be made with the app store link.

iPad and iPhone Apps / feedHopper 5.2 sneak peek (updated)
« on: November 06, 2011, 07:40:38 PM »

Whats New:

* A new tagging system to help you organize your articles.
You can now create up to 32 system-wide tags.  When reading an article you can assign one or more tags to the article.  You can rearrange how the tags appear in the tag list to your taste.  You can also rename and delete tags at any time.
Note if you delete a tag, it is gone from the system, but renaming a tag preserves any articles that are already associated with it.

* A new Time period and Tag filter for article lists
Time periods: Today, Last 7 Days.  You can check one, the other, or neither (neither would remove any time filter).
Tags:  Check off one or more tags to restrict the articles you see by those that match the checked tags.  If no tag is checked, you will see all articles.

* You can now reset your social networking login accounts on individual services in the social area of the global settings.

Fixes:
* When using the widescreen article view, using the 'articles' button to bring up the article list in a popover and clicking on 'back' would result in losing the sidebar.
* A crash was possible when moving between various portrait and landscape views mixed with widescreen article view and returning (selecting 'back') to the article list.
* Some iOS5 compatibility improvements
* Some minor memory leaks in the global settings dialog

Here is a peek at how you create tags and associate tags with an article:

Here is the new Article Filter, which works in real time as you check off items:

iPad and iPhone Apps / feedHopper 5.1 sneak peek
« on: August 21, 2011, 08:36:40 PM »
5.1 includes an overhaul of social networking features in the application.
You will be able to bookmark with Facebook, Twitter, ReadItLater, Instapaper, Tumblr, and Evernote, in addition to opening the page in Safari and using email.  The openfeint integration is going away for now but will likely return.

> Your favorite bookmarking choices bubble to the top of the social menu for quick access
> You can disable social menu items you do not care about
> You can enter your credentials the first time you use a service rather than in settings
> A subtle notification of a successful submission fades away rather than an alert dialog to acknowledge

The global settings for social services was revamped to only provide one option: Remove all stored credentials.

The parental controls twitter and email options were removed in favor of simply "Social Bookmarking" on/off.

Best regards

Wordpress Plugins / Easy Chart Builder 2.0 beta (updated B3)
« on: August 12, 2011, 12:44:23 AM »
I know folks are frustrated it has not been updated recently.  2.0 completely redoes the rendering and javascript.  Charts are dynamic, as the mouse rolls over key areas they will highlight.

There will be more options to tailor axis titles and legend and whatnot, but some features are going away.

I think everyone will like the outcome much better.  Your pages will not break as the old tags will remain identifiable but may not do anything.

Once things are settled and more is in place, will follow up on this post.

Update
==========================
beta 3 drop can be found here for those that want to use it.
http://www.dyerware.com/beta/ECB2b3.zip

To install it, simply replace the easy-chart-builder.php in the plugin folder with the one provided in the zip file above.

New: importsql argument to specify an SQL Table to drive the chart.  Use the valuenames argument to specify the column name in the table for the values in the value axis.  Use the groupnames argument to list columns you want in the chart.

Below are two examples everyone can do as they are simple plots of your wordpress tables.  Note only one column of the table in these simple demos is plotted:
[easychart type="line" importsql="wp_posts" valuenames="post_date" groupnames="comment_count"]
[easychart type="horizbar" importsql="wp_links" valuenames="link_name" groupnames="link_rating"]

If you create a custom table, you can do a lot of things.  For example if you enter the tutorial chart found on the ECB document page, and you listed the tests (3D, E-Learning, etc) under the column "tests", you could access it as such:
[easychart type="horizbar" importsql="testchart" valuenames="tests" groupnames="AMD Phenom X4 9950,Intel Core i7 940"]

New: importcsv argument to specify a csv file to drive the chart: importcsv="yourfile.csv"
The beta has an example csv file for you to explore the format.  Specify the full path or plop it in your wordpress root folder.

Change: Only Pie, Line, horizbar|stacked, vertbar|stacked are supported.  Overlapped, radar, and scatter are not implemented.  Scatter will eventually be added.

Bugs: The data table is screwy and will likely be fired in favor of the original one.

iPad and iPhone Apps / fH 5.0.19 submitted to Apple. Details inside
« on: July 31, 2011, 11:57:47 PM »
This fixes an instability issue with iOS 4.3.2 (and newer) where crashes can occur when you edit text of a feed or folder.

This also fixes issues where changes to folders (and some changes to feeds) were not saved.

One small new feature: The built-in web browser is now compatible with more web sites, such as the Amazon Gold Chest feature.
